DarkRoom
Coming soonShot times, source decay, boundaries and code limits for Ir-192 and Co-60 radiography, built by an NDT tech for the field.
An iPhone and Apple Watch app by CarbonCode.
What it does
Exposure
Shot time from source activity, steel-equivalent thickness, source-to-film distance and your crew's R factor, with the source decayed to today. The common slide-rule field formula means the R your crew already uses carries over. Learn R corrects it from a shot you trust.
Calculators
Geometric unsharpness, minimum source-to-film distance, inverse square law, belt spacing, equivalent thickness, exclusion zone and IQI selection, plus a pipe chart.
Codes
Plain-language acceptance limits for API 1104, ASME B31.3, ASME Section V and AWS D1.1, worked out for the wall or weld size you enter.
Apple Watch
The shot countdown on your wrist, with a tap when the shot ends. Stop it from either device.
Your data
There is no account, no analytics and no CarbonCode server. Everything runs on your iPhone. Your R factors, Γ values and boundary rates sync between your own devices through iCloud. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
A calculation aid, not a procedure
DarkRoom does not replace your training, your written procedure or a qualified Level II or Level III. Check results against a known shot, and confirm every boundary with a calibrated survey meter.
